Jeffrey P Kahn MD
Thoughtful Psychiatry
Columbia Trained | Cornell Professor
Psychotherapy, Psychopharmacology
Practice Overview
Jeffrey P. Kahn, MD practices psychiatry in Scarsdale (Westchester) and Upper West Side (Manhattan). Columbia trained and a Cornell Professor, he helps with relationship, marriage, work, career and school issues - as well as with mood, depression, phobia, panic and social anxiety, OCD, psychosis, schizophrenia, and bipolar. He offers both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, and starts the therapeutic process with a thorough personal evaluation, including careful attention to thoughtful understanding and clear diagnosis.
Though mostly a clinical psychiatrist, his training, research, writing, teaching and experience in psychotherapy and medication includes expertise in relationships, career, anxiety, depression, psychosis, heart disease, behavior in organizations, distressed executives, management and leadership, and psychiatric problems from an evolutionary perspective.
The most useful help usually includes both psychotherapy to understand relationships, work and emotions; and often medication for biologically based issues. These two approaches work very well together, but they each treat different causes of the overall problems. They both work best when circumstances and diagnoses are very well understood - more details on the Patient Information page.
Dr. Kahn completed medical school, psychiatric residency and advanced fellowship training at Columbia University. He is now a full Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian - Weill Cornell in both Westchester (White Plains) and Manhattan (Upper East Side). He has been listed for more than 15 years in Top Doctors (New York Magazine; Westchester Magazine; Castle-Connolly Medical).
